Light For The Future Ministries
April 2021 Newsletter

Hello Friends and Family,

Praying that you are all healthy. We are very thankful to watch all that God is doing in our lives and in the lives of the children that we work with in Guatemala. We are constantly amazed at the speed in which God works. Sometimes you just have to jump on board, and hang on tight!

Last September, God gave us and our Guatemalan director, Karla a vision for a school in Guatemala. We had no idea how we would fund it or how we would get computers for all the students. We didn’t know how many students we would have or if the parents would agree to this idea of a virtual school.

We met with the children and the parents in October, and they were all excited about the idea. We asked for donations of computers, and people started giving us used, and some brand-new laptops.

In December, Melissa was able to go to Guatemala with a group from from Submersion 14 Ministries out of Jacksonville. They brought backpacks full of earth friendly school supplies and hygiene items to the children, and worked with Believe Guatemala to get shirts given to the children to use as their school uniforms. And they did a ribbon cutting for the new school. God miraculously provided computers for all the students and the tutors.

In January, the school began. This was a HUGE learning curve! Most of the children had not worked on a computer before. They didn’t know Microsoft Word or Excel. Programs that children in the States start learning in elementary school. But they persevered. Asked for help when necessary. They are learning to use the platform and the cloud.

We found volunteers to teach the kids Bible, English, art, music and computer skills. Some are from Guatemala. And some teach remotely from the states. What a GREAT way to be a missionary, when you can’t go on the mission field in person.

Richard contacted a local news reporter who had done a story about our ministry last year, when Covid started. She interviewed us, and Karla in Guatemala (isn’t technology amazing) about our school, and how we are trying to give the children we work with a quality education, so that they can remain in their country, and make escape the life of poverty which is their current reality.

We have already purchased our tickets to return to Guatemala June 5 - July 2nd. We are praying that a small team will be able to join us. We cover your prayers as we get ready to go back to the country and the people that years ago, captured our hearts.
May God Richly bless you! And remind you of how much we ALL have to be thankful for,

Dios le Bendiga!
